Maui and Hawaii are famous for the Aloha spirit which means greeting, love, respect, peace and a way of living, really. You can experience this attitude in every aspect of life here and we’d like to give you some ideas what it means when it comes to driving. Here are a few tips for you!
We don’t honk our horn here – unless we’re going through the tunnel on West Maui where you are supposed to greet the ‘resident spirits’ of the tunnel by honking your horn or when we want to say hello to a fellow driver.
Most of Maui’s highways are only two-lane roads so passing is not exactly recommended. You’re on vacation on ‘Maui time’ anyway – there is no rush in paradise.
Always keep an eye out for pedestrians and be patient with them as they are so mesmerized by the beauty of Maui that they often don’t look around before crossing the road.
If you need more information about local habits or routes, let us know! We at Aloha Motorsports are always happy to help you rent a scooter, a motorcycle or a Harley-Davidson and make sure that you can get the most out of your vacation.
